The South Korean tech giant unveiled its most exclusive foldable smartphone dubbed as W2018 last week on December 1st. This will update the W line in foldable smartphones every year as the company said in its unveiling event in China. It is Samsung’s 10th anniversary’s W series smartphone.
Samsung claimed that W2018 has a marvelous camera lens which none of the smartphones ever had before. The smartphone has a 12-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/1.5, which can snap sharp images even in dim lighting situations. W2018 has a front 5-megapixel camera, and through software, this camera can automatically sense when there’s enough light to switch to f/2.4 and capture more of the background in photos. Sounds incredible, doesn’t it?
Besides that, this foldable smartphone comes with a 4.2-inch full HD AMOLED front display, while its inner full HD display is 4.2-inch too. Interestingly, it has a directional pad and a number keypad which aren’t usually seen in phones these days. The specs include a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB of RAM, with 64GB minimum to the highest of 256GB of storage, and a 2,300mAh powered battery. So, it’s safe to say this phone has all the latest features you can desire in a smartphone.
It is not confirmed as to when Samsung will release the W2018 but it is said to kick off from the Chinese market first. Unfortunately, Samsung’s W2018 will launch with Android Nougat, not Oreo; and yes, the price of the phone is expected to go beyond last year’s W2017, whose price tag was $3,000.
