For such a long time, Google Play has been considered as the center for downloading games and apps on Android devices. However, the thing most of us don’t know is that it’s a home for a lot of other content, such as movies, music, TV Shows, books and many more. And it looks like the tech titan is also adding audiobooks to its own digital ecosystem. As reported by 9to5Google, a banner has appeared in the Books section of the app, mentioning a 50 percent off on your first purchase to celebrate the arrival.
The link isn’t currently accessible and is simply showing 404’s. According to 9to5Google, there’s no mention of when it will go live. Back in November, references to Audiobooks were found by Android Police in an APK teardown of the Google Play app, which means the company is likely to lay the groundwork for an audiobook store.
If it happens, it could be a significant move for Google towards the audiobook market. You could find a selection of audiobooks in Google Play’s music library, but a separate hub will always help. Although the launch of this new category looks more and more likely. To know further, you will have to wait for Google’s announcement.
