Last December, Elon Musk made a bold promise about his Boring Company: “After [we sell] 50k [Boring Company] hats, we will start selling The Boring Company flamethrower.” Although Mr. Musk is quite popular for making such promises that he can’t often keep, seems like this time he did keep his promise. After selling 50,000 hat on this Christmas Eve, he tweeted that the flamethrowers were coming soon.
Some Musk-related subreddits noticed earlier this week that a URL “boringcompany.com/flamethrower” began redirecting to a page with a password box. However, it was written that the price for the flamethrower was $600, which has now changed to $500.
The Boring Company flamethrower is not only beautiful, but also functional. The below Instagram video that Elon Musk shared at least says so. And if you are too nervous to handle this thing, there’s also a $30 fire extinguisher, and it’s branded too.
If you are wondering whether this thing is legal, yes, it is. Elon Musk confirmed that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms allows throwers with flames shorter than 10 feet. There are 20,000 on sale, so if you want to have one of those world’s safest flamethrowers for you, go for it.
