For quite a long time, humans were working for the development of medical science. Doctors promise us to make our life easy. Now, however, we’re in a time where machines are going ahead of expert doctors promising easy and better lives for humans. Though, for some, machines are changing everything and threatening the race. But, this news came as a blessing. Google Images will diagnose cancer with the help of an AI algorithm.
Using the facility of Google Image Search, an AI (artificial intelligence) algorithm can diagnose fatal skin lesions. Don’t worry. The finding is as accurate as the finding of a group of 21 certified dermatologists.
According to Bloomberg, the 26-year-old developer Brett Kuprel is a Ph. D. Student at Stanford University. He studies Electrical Engineering and doesn’t have any background in dermatology.
Figure out skin cancer just using a smartphone
Kuprel envisions that everyone will be able to screen themselves to figure out skin cancer just using a smartphone. He says, “There’s no huge dataset of skin cancer that we can just train our algorithms on, so we had to make our own”. He further added, “We gathered images from the internet and worked with the medical school to create a mice taxonomy out of data that was very messy- the labels alone were in several languages, including German, Arabic, and Latin.”
