Mark Zuckerberg knows what you do on Facebook Messenger. On Wednesday, Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook, Inc. ensured that it scans the conversations of the users on the Messenger app. Facebook explained they do it to ensure whether the content is meeting “community standards” or abiding by the Facebook rules.
Sarah Frier of Bloomberg reported, “Facebook Inc. scans the links and images that people send each other on Facebook Messenger, and reads chats when they’re flagged to moderators, making sure the content abides by the company’s rules, if it doesn’t, it gets blocked or taken down”.
However, about the confirmation, Zuckerberg said, “in that case, our systems detect what’s going on. We stop those messages from going through”.
Such news made Facebook more monstrous. It came at a time when Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg is encountering severe criticism from privacy activists and mass people.
Moreover, Ezra Klein of Vox asked Zuckerberg, why does Facebook scan users’ conversation? Facebook CEO answered, “I remember, one Saturday morning I got a phone and we detected that people were trying to spread sensational messages through- Facebook Messenger- to each side of the conflict”. In fact, according to the interview, Zuckerberg was referring the time when extremist Buddhist monks were massacring Rohingya Muslims.
