Google’s Safe Browsing was always active when you browsed through Google Chrome, but from now it will protect you from phishing attempts and harmful programs even if you’re not visiting websites on Chrome. Google play protect is now embedded Safe browsing to WebView. By default, this components job is to allow Android apps to display web content. Since developers don’t have to do anything to activate the feature, their apps will come integrated with the ability to warn you if you’re visiting a URL with potentially malicious content.
This added capability uses the same the technology as Chrome on Android and will activate the same network error and warning. If a website wants to reveal sensitive info or install dangerous it will know and give you a warning. This behavior will be customizable by some developers but the thing is you will see more of the red screen of warning from now on.
