
Europe’s new GDPR privacy standard to launch so0n and as we get closer, a number of companies are announcing some changes that will affect European users. Now if you are living in Europe then you have to be at least 16 years of age to use Whatsapp. This decision is taken to comply with the new regulations for the users living in Europe only.
The user will be asked to accept new terms of service from Whatsapp in the coming weeks and European users will have to confirm that they’re at least 16 years of age. The current standard which requires users to be no younger than 13 years old will apply to everyone else not living in Europe. WhatsApp hasn’t said how it will be verifying users are reporting their real age.
GDPR-related changes across the platforms including Instagram, Oculus and Facebook itself will arrive. In a blog post, WhatsApp also said that users around the world will soon be able to download all of the data the messaging service collects.
