How much time a day you spend on watching videos on YouTube? The possible answer could be 1 hour, 2 hours, or even more. Sometimes, we are so obsessed with the digital media we forget to focus on other things. And YouTube knows it too. The company just rolled out a feature called “take a break,” which will remind you when you need to stop watching videos.
Take a break
This feature comes as a part of Google’s initiative to make you less distracted by technology. To access the feature, go to Settings, and then choose General. There, you will find a “Remind me to take a break” option at the top right. You can set a reminder to appear every 15, 30, 60, 90, and 180 minutes, at which point the “take a break” notification will prompt. You can then close the app or dismiss the reminder to keep watching.
The feature is turned off by default. It’s completely up to you whether you want to enable this feature or not.
Besides, YouTube is planning to roll out a feature called “time watched profile” that will show your daily average viewing time. There’s also a new option, which lets you disable notification sounds during a specific period of time, such as your bedtime. It looks like, Google is trying to bring a balance between tech and life.
