HTC recently teased the launch of HTC U12 Plus (rumored name of the phone) on May 23 through a tweet from its official Twitter account. Just days before the launch, a new leak revealed a lot about the phone including design, color, and specs. So why not check out the details to know what to expect.
From the leaked updates, the phone does not have a notch. It’s nice to know that HTC is blindly not following the bandwagon of the notch design.
The leak also reveals that the U12 Plus comes in three different colors, grey, black and maroon, there could be additional colors such as Red Rose, Black, Violet, and Translucent (flaunts the internal hardware of the handset). HTC has designed the back of the phone with a new translucent look, ditching their older super glossy design aesthetic. The display has a bezel with a ratio of 18:9 on the top and bottom. HTC U12 Plus will feature a large 6-inch QHD+ Super LCD display with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with 6GB RAM as the standard. The storage capacity of it will either be available at 64 GB or 128 GB.
Camera, Battery, and Price
The phone has two front-facing cameras with a 12 MP and a 16 MP telephoto lens. The camera supports both phase detection and a laser autofocusing system, coined UltraSpeed Autofocus 2 by HTC. The rear camera will be equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a dual LED flash. The camera captures 4K videos at 60 fps, along with a slow-motion video capture. The phone also features face unlocking mechanism with AI, BoomSound speakers and Edge Sense 2, that lets users squeeze the sides of the phone to activate features. The battery capacity is 3,500 mAh with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support which charges the phone in a very short span. The U12 Plus price is touted to cost around $649 which is pretty expensive from other HTC flagships.
