Finally, Apple wins against Samsung in Samsung patent case. On Thursday, a U.S. jury said Samsung Electronics Co Ltd should pay $539 million to Apple Inc.
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. is the closest rival to Apple. Samsung found guilty for copying patented smartphone features, according to court documents. In fact, for years Apple had been accusing Samsung of this issue. At last, the feud between these giants came to an end.
Over this patent case, world’s these two smartphones rivals have been in court over patents since 2011. In 2011, Apple accused that the South Korean tech giant, Samsung was copying Apple’s product for making tabs and smartphones. Though, in a 2012 trial, the court found that Samsung was liable. Nonetheless, the case didn’t go settled because of the disagreement over the payment.
The South Korean tech maverick infringed three of Apple’s design patents- i. covering the rounded corners of its iPhones; ii. The rim that surrounds the front face; iii. The grid of icons that users view. Additionally, two utility patens.
In fact, Samsung’s appeal was a gamble. Moreover, Samsung lost the gamble and Apple got additional $140 million. A jury in a lower court in San Jose, California, delivered a verdict where Apple wins. The end of this seven-year-long patent war, companies might change their view on the value of patents.
