Instagram is considering to prolong its video length. The Wall Street Journal reported about a new feature of the Facebook-owned photo and video sharing app, which lets users post long-form videos of up to an hour.
Currently, Instagram Stories are limited to 15 seconds. Videos posted in the main feed can be a little longer than 1 minute. With this new feature, the app will focus on vertical videos. Although Instagram Stories are designed to vertical video format, it’s not clear whether this longer video will be in the Stories section or in the main feed.
The longer videos will give users the flexibility to work creatively. In the recent weeks, the company had discussions with content creators and publishers about the possibility of producing a long-form video for the platform.
Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger from Stanford University founded Instagram in 2010. Started as a photo-sharing service, the app has grown into a popular photo app with more than 800 users.
