Earlier this week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced at the company’s annual shareholder meeting that the upcoming Tesla Roadster will have a “SpaceX option package,” saying that it will push the company’s all-electric supercar’s previously mentioned base specs to a whole new level. Following up the remarks, Musk just said that the package will include 10 small rocket thrusters strung around the car.
SpaceX option package for new Tesla Roadster will include ~10 small rocket thrusters arranged seamlessly around car. These rocket engines dramatically improve acceleration, top speed, braking & cornering. Maybe they will even allow a Tesla to fly …

This may sound like a joke, but we all know Musk is quite popular for saying crazy things on Twitter, which sound like a joke but eventually turn out to be true. Previously, he promised to send the first generation Tesla Roadster in space, which he actually did.
Musk added further details, which proves he is serious about this project.
Wait, so you are not kidding?

The reason behind including rocket thrusters to Tesla’s next-generation Roadster is to “dramatically improve acceleration, top speed, braking and cornering.”
He also wrote on Twitter that those small rocket engines may allow a Tesla to fly, which sounds quite interesting to me. It looks like with Tesla, Musk is going to outclass gasoline cars in every way, even it means to use some rocketry.
