As a smartphone user, every day you spend a huge amount of time on your iPhone like making phone calls, playing video games, streaming on social media, checking notification and many more. Importantly, you are not the only one who doesn’t count the time but other iPhone users may not also count that how much time they consume every day after these staffs. However, in the near future, when everyone will get access to iOS 12 this fall, “Screen Time” the next iPhone software feature will exactly show you that how many hours or minute you have spent after playing games, Entertainment, Social Network and others.
Interestingly, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook already started using this feature and he was surprised. Recently in an interview with CNN, Cook said that “I’ve been using it and I have to tell you: I thought I was fairly disciplined about this. And I was wrong. When I began to get the data, I found I was spending a lot more time than I should.”
Furthermore, he also shared with CNN that “I don’t want to give you all the apps. But too much. And the number of times I picked up the phone were too many. I also found the number of notifications I was getting just didn’t make sense anymore. You know, Notifications started out as something to tell you about something really important happening. And all too often now, it’s like everything is important.”
By the way, Apple isn’t worried that giving this information to users could impact Apple’s business. Therefore, he opened up with the CNN and said that “We’ve never been focused on usage as a key parameter. We want people to be incredibly satisfied, and empowered by our devices that we ship. But we’ve never wanted people to spend a lot of time, or all their time, on them. It’s a personal thing about how much is too much.”
I totally agree with Cook that he said: “It’s a personal thing about how much is too much.” Obviously, it is up to you that how much you think is too much. Please remember that the feature is only advisory but not to fix anything on your iPhone. So, if you think that you are spending a lot of time with your smartphone then the feature can’t help you but only you have to cut your time or change your habit by yourself.
