All you needed to know about smart mirrors

What is a smart mirror?

A smart mirror is a two-way mirror with an electronic display screen, camera, sensors, and tabs located behind the glass. VanityVision glass and acrylic are the latest materials used in smart mirror technology. The transparent high-quality mirror not only helps with providing a reflection of the user but provides clear text, graphics, and information all on the same frame. Smart mirrors not only use AI technology but also others such as AR, VR, and facial recognition.

Features of Smart Mirror

The electronic display located at the back of the glass provides clear text, graphics, and information through widgets. Various information such as time, date, weather, skin details and makeup suggestions for women especially and news updates. This is a very useful device for individuals who are always on the go and love to multi-task. It is pretty obvious we look into the mirror at least once before leaving for work and school in the mornings.

Smart Mirrors in retail

Several retail business ventures have been using smart mirror techniques to convenience shoppers with making quick easy purchases instantly and also trying stuff on without much hassle of changing clothes. MasterCard has joined hands with retail businesses that provide an AR screen along with a bank card with details of the various items available in the store. The screen acts as a personal assistant that registers size, choice, and color from memory to suggest items to buy. According to research, businesses will cut time spent in fitting rooms by at least 40%. Also, 71% of customers who try something on in such a fitting room will definitely buy something making space a marketing tool and will expand income of the business.

After the successful innovation of smart mirrors, various retailers are experimenting with different ways to engage with customers by using screens to keep track of cloth tags featuring RFID technology. Several mirrors often allow shoppers to call for sales assistants and change light according to what clothing will look like at different times of the day. Customers can adjust lighting, play music and ask for suggestion just by tapping on the smart mirror.
