HTC announced its plan about a blockchain-powered phone in May. Now, the company has shared a bit more about the device. Named Exodus, this blockchain-powered device will arrive this fall.
There’s nothing much else about the device, but according to Phil Chen, HTC’s new chief decentralizing officer the price of this device will be comparable to the price of the upcoming Finney blockchain-powered phone from Sirin Labs, which is $1000.
The company is also teaming up with CryptoKitties, a game built on blockchain technology. Users can collect and breed virtual cats using digital money. The reason behind this partnership is to bring the title to its Exodus device, along with a digital wallet.
It looks like HTC is working hard to save its drowning business. In June, the company’s sales were down by 68 percent, the biggest drop in the past two years. Its U12+ flagship came with a highly rated camera but wasn’t well received. In this situation, developing a highly expensive device, with a cryptocurrency wallet as its key feature, is likely to target only a niche audience. If you are interested to buy one for yourself, you can register on the company’s new website for Exodus.
