Netflix is bringing a cool feature only for Android devices (tabs and phones) called the Smart Download. The feature lets users download various movies and TV shows. Users can then watch the videos in offline mode or when there is no WiFi connection close by. It appears to be in default mode but users can turn it off voluntarily either from the app’s setting menu or download section.
People can access this feature on Netflix through the App Settings and find Smart Download under the Downloads section. Netflix believes that this feature will help users save money and continue enjoying binging shows without any interruption as and when they like. One can go on without an expensive mobile phone data and plan. They save phone data in case they do not have an unlimited phone plan and such. In case, anyone does not think phone storage is a problem, they can download multiple episodes on their device. They can always turn off smart downloads and manage the feature manually.
Not only will this feature save phone data and but will also save phone storage by automatically deleting video files that been watched. Basically, the feature will swap out the old episode for the new one for a TV show, similarly swap out a watched movie for a new one. It will automatically delete downloaded videos once watched and download the next episode in line, making convenient for watchers to continue on with shows. A bar of the download status will appear on the screen when the download begins. When a new episode is downloading, and users will be notified on the start and completion of the download.
There’s no telling whether iOS will get this feature upgrade from Netflix but it isn’t very clear. So far Netflix made it clear in its announcements that the feature is exclusively releasing only on Android devices for the initial rounds.
