Generally, LG and Samsung have been supplying OLED panel for the American tech giant Apple to make iPhones. But now, it seems the American tech giant Apple has chosen another company like BOE to get OLED panel for the future iPhones. According to The Wall Street Journal report, Apple is reportedly talking to BOE the Chinese display supplier to supply OLED panel for the future iPhones.
Well, the deal is yet to be finalized, but before that BOE needs to approve that the company is capable to supply OLED display for Apple. And experts are saying that they will be capable to supply OLED panel on demand of Apple because BOE’s Senior Vice President recently said that the Chengdu factory is already at a 70% yield means BOE is standby to get the order from Apple.
So, if Apple finalizes the deal with BOE to get OLED display then we hope to see iPhones with BOE-supplied OLED screens in 2019. Apart from that, Apple will source the screens mostly from Samsung with a small participation by LG as well.
Furthermore, BOE is not the first timer supplier for Apple but the company has a long relationship with this American tech giant. For instance, BOE used to supplies LCD panels for iPads and MacBooks. However, it is worth mentioning you that the Chinese display supplier BOE is known to be the number one supplier of large LCDs in the world.
It is not clear yet why Apple has chosen BOE despite LG and Samsung are already supplying OLED panel for Apple. But we guess that Apple probably want to bring down the cost of OLED display getting supply from the Chinese company or maybe the American tech giant doesn’t want its rival Samsung to dominate the OLED market while the maximum chunk of OLED display for iPhones come from Samsung.
