How to Scan QR Codes with Android?

Android is certainly the most used smartphone OS these days with about 2 billion active devices per month worldwide. Still, not all Android smartphones support scanning QR codes without relying on a third-party QR code scanner. Concerned about your device’s eligibility to scan QR codes? Well, you’ve come to the right place.

What Are QR Codes?

QR Codes or Quick Response Codes are two-dimensional barcodes that work as a bridge between the offline and online world.

Upon scanning a QR code, the users are displayed the hidden information saved behind the QR code. Today, QR codes are customizable, programmable, and can be amended in many ways to aid in your marketing campaigns. The modern QR codes are known as dynamic QR codes. They can be made by a QR code generator with logo as QRzebra.

Can Your Android Smartphone Scan a QR Code Natively?

Overall, some Android devices have a built-in QR code reader and some don’t. To check if your smartphone can scan QR codes natively, open and point it towards the QR code for 2-3 seconds. If nothing happens, go to the camera settings and check if there’s an option to enable QR code read. If you don’t see a QR code option, your smartphone does not support QR code scanning. And hence, you must go for a third-party QR code reader to scan QR codes with ease.

On the other hand, you’ll see a pop-up notification by pointing the camera towards QR code if your device supports QR code scanning. Click on the link and you’ll be redirected to the concerned webpage.
